A few days had passed since the fire at the fire station. My mom had been staying with me and was staying until the annual fall festival. It was the one time a year she came to visit and stay with me instead of me going back to my home town. There was rumors spreading about how a fire could start at a fire station. Some people claimed it was the new rookie firemen that caused it. People thought he was strange especially since he always had his yellow notebook that he took notes in. He said the notes he took helped him become better at his job. I saw him a few times around the neighborhood but had never had a conversation with him. The town was sad for his family but since the fall festival was two days later, no one mourned for too long.
The festival weekend had begun and me and my mom decided to walk down to the sunflower field. People filled the streets and crowded around the different booths. Over to the right side of the booths was a petting zoo and a "dance off" happening. Over the chatter of the crowd, "watch me whip, watch me nae nae" blasted over the speakers. As we started walking closer into the field, the tea cup pig and the baby monkey at the petting zoo caught our attention. The man holding the baby monkey looked familiar but it took a second to figure out from where. He was eating a peach and had a hat with a something moving on top of it. As we got closer, I recognized that he was the owner of My Grandmother's Attic and that the thing moving on his head was a black widow spider. He instantly gave us the creeps. The same creeps I got when I saw him around town. He was always mumbling to himself and seemed to be strung off of drugs. He always had on this old, raggety shirt that had Apollo on it. Nobody was ever certain what exactly he did with his life. Sometimes he was around a lot and sometimes he would disappear for days. No one knew exactly where he would disappear to. After the petting zoo, my mom talked me into the apple bobbing contest with a cash prize. As she had said since I was a child, "you miss 100% the shots you don't take."

Life is a Circus
It had been a long few days. There was still no power anywhere in town. I got up and decided to go for a walk, knowing there was nothing better to do. As soon as I exited The Meridian, I noticed the crowd surrounding the fountain and a circus ringleader standing in the middle speaking loudly. I attempt to look over shoulders to see the animals. As a few minutes pass, the crowd starts to disperse. I walk closer to the fountain and notice a very interesting creature. The first word that came to my mind was a dinosaur. As I approach it, it turns its head and looks at me. The next thing I remember happening, is it starting to peck at me, so I take off running.

And so it goes
The day started with the annoying buzzing of my alarm clock. I was so tired but I knew if I played the dangerous game of me closing my eyes for 5 more minutes, I would be late for work. I pulled the covers off me and goose bumps immediately covered my body. I looked over and saw my window was open. Not thinking much of it, I went over and closed it. My hands were soaked from the dew on the window and from all the storms from the previous day. I grab my dress and shimmy myself into it. I looked at myself in my mirror. Right when I look at my face and head, I notice a huge, bulging bump on my forehead. My jaw drops as I remember what happened last night.
